Chest pain is one of the most common reasons people seek care at a hospital emergency department. That
is why a Chest Pain Center has been established at both the Boise and Meridian hospitals. The Chest
Pain Centers aid emergency room physicians and cardiologists in determining if a patient's chest pain
is related to a heart disorder, or another problem.
Having a dedicated area for observation and monitoring of patients with chest pain prevents unnecessary
hospitalizations for those who are not experiencing heart-related problems. It also allows for a more
rapid diagnosis of the cause of the chest pain.
